Ballet division follows the Royal Academy of Dance curriculum.
Creative Dance (formally Creative Movement): This is ballet based class for 2 and 3 year olds. We offer a creative atmosphere for our dancers to explore the beginnings of ballet. We also touch base on ballet terminology and classical and modern music is used in class. Class is 45minutes.
Combo I: Ballet and tap class for 3 and 4 year olds. We use basic ballet and tap steps to give our young dancers a foundation to start with in their dance education. Terminology, flexibility, and combinations will also be covered. Class is one hour.
Combo II: Ballet and tap for our 4 to 5 year olds. We use basic ballet and tap steps to give our young dancers a foundation to start with in their dance education. Terminology, flexibility, and combinations will also be covered. Class is one hour.
Petite Ballet: Ballet class for 3 and 4 year olds. 45minutes. Students learn positions of the arms and legs, and increase coordination with skipping, jumping, and turning patterns. Basic Ballet terminology is taught. Flexibility and balance are increased, and listening skills improve.
Pre-Ballet: Pre- Ballet is the start of our formal training for our Kindergarten students. We work on proper alignment, strength, flexibility, musicality and terminology. Class is one hour.
Beginner Ballet I: Students continue to work on alignment and flexibility. Technique is strongly stressed in this class as a foundation. Students increase their vocabulary of ballet elements, with a longer barre and beginning work in croisee. Many new steps and patterns are learned, and combinations of elements. Musicality becomes increasingly important in dancing at this level. Class is one hour.
Beginner Ballet II: In this level students will begin to study ballet technique exclusively. The first half of class is spent working at the barre. The second half of class is for working in the centre and across the floor. Students will work on developing muscles carefully and safely to support their technique. Class one hour.
Intermediate Ballet I with Pointe: In this level students will continue to study ballet technique with strong emphasis on understanding anatomical concepts and how to work best and most safely within their own bodies. The first half of the class will be spent working at the barre. The second half of the class is for working in the centre and across the floor. Pointe technique may be taught for the last fifteen minutes of class if students are physically ready for it. Students will be expected to know ballet vocabulary and use it as communication. Class is one hour and fifteen minutes. Two classes per week minimum.
Intermediate Ballet II with Pointe: Dancers are teens through adults and use a full vocabulary of barre and center, including pointe work. The adagio and allegro work increase in depth and complexity, and pirouettes of many kinds are explored. Musicality and artistry are increasing with technical ability at this level. Class is one hour and fifteen minutes. Two classes a week minimum.
Advanced Ballet: In this level students will continue to study ballet technique with strong emphasis on understanding anatomical concepts and how to work best and most safely within their own bodies. The first half of the class will be spent working at the barre. Part of the second half of the class is for working in the centre and across the floor and the remaining time will be used for pointe technique. Students will be expected to know ballet vocabulary and use it as communication and picking up of material will be strongly emphasized. Class is one hour and a half. Two class a week minimum.
Petite Jazz: Jazz class for 3 and 4 year olds. 45 minutes. Children will learn the basics of jazz dance. We will also touch base on terminology.
Jazz: Pre-Jazz through Advanced Jazz: This class is based on various technical and inspired Jazz approaches such as Luigi, Hatchett, and Gioradiano to name a few. The foundation for stability of movement will be a strong understanding of body placement and center. An emphasis will be placed on explanation of terminology, warm-up, isolations, barre, and center with emphasis on strengthening turns, jumps, flexibility, technical execution, and combinations. Class is one hour.
Petite Tap: Tap class for 3 and 4 year olds. The basic tap class geared for our littlest tapper. Terminology, basic tap steps, patterens, and rhythm will be introduced in thi class.
Tap: Pre-Tap through Advanced: This class is based on various technical and inspired Tap styles such as Classical, Rhythm, and Hoofing to name a few. The foundation will be a strong understanding of basic tap foundation, terminology, timing and rhythm. An emphasis will be placed on explanation of terminology, execution of basic steps through more challenging rhythms, precise tap sounds, improvisational techniques, syncopation and technical execution. Class is one hour
Modern: Pre-Modern through Advanced: Modern Dance explores movement, space, rhythm and the dancer’s own creativity with a emphasizes on momentum, shapes and patterns as well. This form of dance is inspired by nature, music, art, and human emotions. This class covers very basic technique through advanced, study and improvisation of Graham, Limon and Horton. Students in Intermediate Modern I and above encouraged to take two classes per week. Class is one hour.
Musical Theater: This class incorporates dance, singing, and acting. Class is one hour. Students encouraged to take an additional dance class as this class has a strong dance base.
Theater Dance: This class incorporates dance and singing. There is a very strong dance base in this class and ALL STUDENT’S must take an additional dance class. Class is one hour.
Song Study: This class is for ages 12 & up and limited to 5 students. This class teaches the art of performing a song.
